About Me

My photo
Robert MacInnis
I have been involved with woodworking, painting and photography most of my life. At 22 years old I restored a 2 1/2 story home on the Saint John River in New Brunswick, Canada, along with a carriage house behind it. I turned this into an antique shop (Carriage House Antiques)and started to refine my woodworking skills. I always carved birds but around 1987 I started selling them ( Robert MacInnis Shorebirds & Decoys) and by the early 1990s I had been asked to represent Canada in France and Japan doing shows there and all over North America, I sold my carvings, paintings and photos world wide to Shops and Gallerys. About two years ago I developed kidney cancer and had to take the last few years to recover. Now I am restarting my work in this shop and another studio I have (Sugartree Cottage), by going back to a simpler more relaxed way of working. I hope in the process of restoring this shop I find what is truly needed to have a place to do what I love to do when life grants me the luxury of the time to do it.
